Occupy Wall Street

On the one month anniversary of the Occupy Wall Street movement, I decided to go down to wall street and lend my support to the cause as well as take photos and talk to some of the people that are there. I found that the movement is a peaceful one and there is a lot of information that is being shared and expressed, although the media is not reporting the stories about the movement correctly. Also, a lot of people of color are there as either put of the organized movement or supporters of the movement, but you would not think this was the case if you based this opinion on the media coverage . The day was beautiful and even the more than 50 police officers that surrounded the small park were on their best behavior. If you have an opportunity to visit the park, then please do so.

Tayshana “Chicken” Murphy

On the early morning of Sunday September 11th, 2011, Tayshana Murphy was murdered in Harlem NYC. She was only 18 years old and she was entering her last year of high school. An aspiring WNBA basketball player, she was highly ranked as one of the top guards in the country, and had many top colleges interested in her playing basketball for their school. This video was taken during a memorial service in the Queensbridge Houses, were she lived for most of her young life.
